Fundamentals of Aircraft Control & Focus of Skills by Lori MacNichol-Gregory
Understanding your aircraft in "Slow Flight" is critical to Aircraft Control. This multimedia presentation will focus on the special skills needed to operate in the Backcountry which will focus on “Low Altitudes Maneuvering in Confined Areas” understanding skill sets, with a special section on “Conventional Gear Ground Control”.

Feb 20-21, 2016: McCall Mountain Canyon Flying Seminars will be conducting a 2-day Mountain/Canyon Flying Workshop at the 32nd Annual NorthWest Aviation Conference and Trade Show. December 2, 2014: McCall Mountain Canyon Flying Seminars spoke at the NOAA Aircraft Operations Center for their “Safety Stand-Down Event” at the MacDill AFB, Florida. Lori MacNichol-Gregory gave a presentation titled “Flying the Idaho/Utah Backcountry, Easy as 123!"

February 23-24, 2013: Northwest Aviation Conference, Puyallup, WA: Lori held a 2-day Mountain and Canyon Flying workshop. We were at booth #118.
December 13, 2011: Lori was invited back to appear on D4K, a show on Idaho Public Television.
November 17th, 2011 : Paso Robles, CA - The ACC of Southern California hosted a wine tasting and dinner at the Eberle Winery. March 12, 2011 - Camarillo, CA - Lori conducted a Mountain and Canyon Flying 5 course workshop for the Ventura County Ninety-Nines. May 3rd, 2008 - Lori was a speaker at the Alaska Airmen's Show . This event ran the whole weekend of May 3rd & 4th. The Alaskan Airman show has sold itself since 1998, attracting pilots and safety enthusiasts from a far. Lori joined other guest speakers such as Phil Boyer, the president of AOPA and Bobby Sturgell, the FAA Administrator.
April 17th, 2008 - Lori was a speaker for the CAA - Columbia Aviation Association. This was a SPANS Event, which qualified as a WINGS - Pilot Proficiency Program.
April 19th, 2008 - Lori spoke at the CFI Refresher Course in Nampa, ID which was presented by Frank Lester of the Idaho Division of Aeronautics.
December 8, 2007: Lori traveled to Costa Rica to give an Aviation Safety Presentation to the LightHawk group. LightHawk's mission has been to address a broad range of issues, strengthening their partners’ efforts by offering the aerial perspective on the issues they consider critical and enabling them to gather data and documentation for their campaigns. They have been providers to their partner organizations, the media, decision-makers, community members and researchers since 1979, making them the largest and oldest volunteer-based environmental aviation organization in North America. They have completed thousands of flight missions involving more than 700 flights each year for hundreds of partners throughout ten countries in North and Central America.
Aug 18-19, 2007: Root Ranch Fly-In – Lori gave an aviation safety presentation.
May 16, 2007: North Idaho Seminar: Lori’s presentation introduced her experience and safely knowledge of the Idaho and Utah backcountry through a multimedia power point presentation.
Feb 23-25, 2007: Northwest Aviation Conference:
Each year over 12,000 aviation enthusiasts gather at this conference in Western Washington to see what is new in the aviation industry. Lori spoke of her knowledge and experience of backcountry flying in Utah and Idaho. She also appeared in an article in the Washington Aviation Association “In Course” magazine. This article included a short biography of Lori’s flying experience and a description by John Kounis of his flight with Lori. Lori MacNichol spoke about "Mountain Flying Proficiency and Safety" on Saturday, Feb. 24th. We were proud to be on the program COVER! Take a look!
Mar 10-11, 2006: Idaho Aviation Festival:
This seminar focused on the finer points of drainage navigation, airspeed control, and airstrip observation that will make specialized approaches and departures delightful possibilities with comfortable outcomes. Lori spoke of the next level of the Idaho and Utah backcountry through a multimedia power point presentation that was instructional in nature which included digital video of the backcountry.
Feb 26-27, 2005: Northwest Aviation Conference:
The Northwest Aviation Conference is the best attended Aviation Safety Seminar on the west cost. This conference drew over 15,000 attendees. In addition to the seminars, an aviation trade show featured 150 exhibitors. Lori presented an overview of her McCall Mountain/Canyon Flying Seminars providing an educational introduction to the special type of airmanship skills and knowledge needed to operate safely in the unique environment of the mountain and canyons of the Idaho Backcountry.
Mar 10-12, 2005: Idaho State Festival:
This festival included educational seminars, training, hands-on activities for children, involvement from the general public, keynote speakers and more. This event attracted aviation enthusiasts from across the country.-
